David Debut’s at #2 & Crush Unofficially Platinum

>> Posted by Ash on Nov 19, 2008 | 2 Comments | Categories: Albums, Articles, News

Congratulations to David! David Archuleta sold 183,000 copies in it’s first week and debuted at # 2 on the Billboard 200!

The next three slots on The Billboard 200 are debuts, with “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta starting at No. 2 with his self-titled 19 Recordings/Jive album on sales of 183,000. The 29th edition of the multi-label “Now That’s What I Call Music!” series begins at No. 3 with 172,000, while T-Pain’s “Thr33 Ringz” (Kovinct/Nappy Boy/Jive) opens at No. 4 with 167,000.

And according to SoundScan over at USA Today’s Idol Chatter , Crush has sold 991,657 copies just shy of 8000 copies from going platinum! But it will be platinum by next Wednesday for next week’s chart. We’re all so immensely proud of David and all of his success. David also thanked us the other day with a unexpected short blog below if you haven’t read it and we think his sales and everything that’s happened so far is the reason the why. Oh David, you’re so very welcome.

His celebrity playlist includes:

Jason Mraz- “Wordplay”
Bjork- “It’s Oh So Quiet”
Kerli- “Walking on Air”
Beyonce- “If I Were a Boy”
Adele- “Chasing Pavements”
Sara Bareilles- “Love Song”
Michael Jackson- “Thriller”
Shania Twain- “Gonna Getcha Good ”

He also does the little zombie dance in the Thriller clip so look out for that.

You can watch them here on the right hand side tab.

Bonnie Hunt Show

>> Posted by Ash on Nov 18, 2008 | No Comments | Categories: Appearances, David Archuleta, Interviews, Media, Television

David was on the Bonnie Hunt show today and it was a very fun interview. David slid down a fire pole as his entrance, talks about the invisible children charity he supports and donates his shirt and bracelet to be auctioned off for cancer charities. So very self-less of him and like always, thinking of others. He also performed Crush (amazing) which you guys can check out in the videos below.

Thanks to MJ’s Blog for the videos.

Remember you can always watch the videos in full size high quality by double clicking on the videos above.

MTV Buzzworthy Interview & CNN Interview

MTV has now posted the interview where they asked us to send in questions for David and I’ll just say this is by far one of his best interviews, he couldn’t be anymore sweeter if he tried. He talks about the album of course and how he’d like to play the guitar for his future concerts and a lot more.

There’s a cute new picture of David on MTV Buzzworthy Interview’s site too.

Also, The Associated Press on CNN’s entertainment page has posted a lovely interview with David, which you can read here.

New Alloy Blog (Last One!): Album’s Out and So Is David!

Album’s Out and So Is David!

The album is finally out now!! It’s been a pretty wild week or so, but I can’t believe the album’s out! I spent pretty much every open space I had over the summer working on it, so it had been quite a busy summer too. But it just blows my mind to think it’s actually out. It’s so weird that it feels a little surreal, haha. But even with everything that’s been going on, I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Im really glad that I got to write some songs for the album, too. I helped write two of the songs on the main album, which were “A Little Too Not Over You” and “Don’t Let Go.” They were both written pretty close to the deadline of having to have the album finished actually. I wrote “Don’t Let Go” with JC Chasez and Jimmy Harry, who wrote “Low” for Kelly Clarkson, and they were so cool to work with. “A Little Too Not Over You,” I wrote with Robbie Nevil, who wrote “One Step At A Time,” Mike Krompass, and Matthew Gerrard who wrote “Breakaway.” I also wrote one of the songs for the iTunes deluxe version called “Falling” and the Wal-Mart bonus track called “Works For Me.” I wrote “Works For Me” with Toby Lightman and Daniel Bedingfield, and that was actually really intimidating because they are both amazing singers. But they were really cool to work with, and I had a great time. I also took part in writing a song called “Somebody Out There,” but it was for pre-order on iTunes only. So five songs was a lot more than I ever expected than from the beginning, haha. But anyway, I kinda rambled off with that one.

Over the last week or so, I went on Jay Leno, TODAY, TRL, Mi TRL, and Regis and Kelly, with a few more coming up. It’s been a lot of fun! I’m getting the hang of singing “Crush” live and also getting the hang of singing early in the morning, haha. I also had a signing at the Virgin Megastore at Times Square for the day the album came out, and that was really neat to see everyone come out for that. It surprised me how diverse the age group was and that there were a both a bunch of guys and girls. So it was pretty cool. I really appreciated everyone coming out for the special night, and it was my first time in the Megastore, too. So it’s been a pretty exciting time in my life right now, with the first album out! I just can’t get over that… It’s seriously mind-blowing. So I hope everyone enjoys it!

Sadly, this is my last Alloy blog, but I had a good time keeping you guys updated and making sure I got pictures of things that were going on, haha. I have actually gotten into bringing my camera around to make sure I get pictures of a lot more stuff. But if you want to keep updated on what’s going on, I have the official site, davidarchuleta.com, and then I have a MySpace page www.myspace.com/davidarchuleta. I post blogs on my MySpace whenever I have something I want to share, too, so if you want to keep reading my weird blogs, that’s the place to go.

Everyone have a good night, and take care!

– David

New Blog: I’m a concert - goer! + Thank You from David!

>> Posted by Nicole on Nov 17, 2008 | No Comments | Categories: Blogs

David posted a new blog on MySpace today, and he also posted a sweet Thank You note for the fans. :D He’s amazing!

I’m a concert - goer!

Hey guys! The last week has been a pretty crazy one! I did a bunch of appearances on some shows, and I’ll be on the Bonnie Hunt Show Tuesday haha. I hope everyone’s liking the album! And thanks for sending in your opinions on what songs you like the most! I love hearing about what you guys think, and really appreciate the great comments you’ve all been making.
I just wanted to tell you really quick about my weekend. On Friday night I was supposed to go home, but we missed our flight. So instead… we went to the Alanis Morissette concert, which was amazing! I forgot how much I loved Alanis and how big of a fan I am. There was a point in time where I was addicted to quite a few of her songs, and I still love her. She is great live, and she gets into it in a really unique way. If you haven’t heard her before you should listen to Uninvited. It’s one of my favorite songs. Another interesting fact about Uninvited that I learned is that the producer who produced the song, Rob Cavallo, produced David Cook’s album. Cool, huh? Another good song of hers is Thank You.
On Saturday, we were able to go back home for a day. I got to spend time with the family again, and what’s cool is there just so happened to be an awesome concert that I didn’t know about going on that day. It was Lady Gaga, Natasha Bedingfield, and New Kids on the Block. I didn’t get to see a whole lot of Lady Gaga since I thought the concert started at 8, but that’s when Natasha’s set started haha. But I finally got to see Natasha perform live!! Of course I was loving it lol. She did amazing, and I was really happy that I got to see her in concert in Utah. I never thought I’d get the chance to, especially at the beginning when she wasn’t really known in the US yet. I really admire the way she’s gone with her music and career, and how sweet of a person she is! She is just down to earth and stays true to herself — whether it’s in person, in her music, or on stage. New Kids on the Block were also amazing too! I couldn’t believe how great of a concert they could still put on, and for a comeback tour. It was full of energy the whole way through! My family went too, so it was great to be able to all spend time together at a concert. A couple of my friends were also able to go, and they said it was the best concert they’ve been to. I can’t believe how many concerts I’ve been able to go to lately! I seriously have gone to more in the last little while than in my life. You learn so much by watching the way people put on a show, and how they perform live. I’ve been having such a great time. I was never really into concerts before, but I guess now that I’m older I appreciate it a lot more. Just being able to watch experienced people live is one of the greatest things ever. Especially seeing artists who have inspired me so much. Jason Mraz, Alanis Morissette, and Natasha Bedingfield have all been major influences for me, and being able to see all of them in concert is just incredible. So I’m definitely a concert-goer now haha. Seriously everyone, if you haven’t been to a concert yet you should! Especially if you’re a singer, you learn A TON from watching the way someone performs. And everyone does it their own way too. Ah, I just love it! But I’ve rambled a lot more than I wanted to haha. I should probably get going. We’re back in LA, and I got to see Brooke and Ramiele! It’s always good to spend time with those guys. Well I’m gonna run, but before I go I just want to remind everyone that Cook’s album is coming out tomorrow! So don’t forget to show your support, and be prepared to listen to some awesome stuff! haha. Ciao.

Song for the day: Put Your Arms Around Me - Natasha Bedingfield

Thank You

I just want you all to know how much I appreciate your unselfish, usually anonymous time and dedication to show your support for me and just want to say, Thank you sooo much. It means a lot to me, I feel like I can’t thank you enough for it.

David on Talkshow with Spike Feresten Show

>> Posted by Ash on Nov 16, 2008 | 3 Comments | Categories: Appearances, David Archuleta, Interviews, Media, Television

David was a guest on Spike Feresten’s show last night in a nice long half hour and entertaining interview about the album, what David won’t sign for a fan and silly rumors along with a few other funny stuff. David also performed Crush and was amazing as always.

You can watch the whole show here on Fox On Demand, David Archuleta
I’ll update it with a youtube version, if fox’s site doesn’t work for you guys.

Spike also posted a blog on his myspace about David and show and this is what he had to say:

But David Archuleta is the main guest. I swear it reminded me of the old tapes of Ed Sullivan when the Beatles were guests. He should of won Idol. There it is. The girls in the audience shrieked so loud my ear’s itched. Top to bottom, might be the best show of the year so far, so enjoy.

ABC News & Yahoo News Interviews

>> Posted by Ash on Nov 14, 2008 | No Comments | Categories: Articles, Interviews, News

ABC News posted a audio only interview with David on their site and he talks about if songs work or not for the album, his excitement when he mentions Jive and Simon Fuller telling him they’ll be working with him right after the finale and his favorite fan story of Crush. It may be his best interview yet because it reveals a depth and self awareness about who he is, and the direction he’d like to take in his ongoing career. Worth listening to.

You can listen to the whole interview here.

Also, Yahoo Entertainment News posted a nice little interview with David where he talks about what fame has surprised him the most, what Simon Cowell will think of the album and a few other things which you can read here.
